Miami Dade Police DepartmentOrganized Crime Section

Detective, Organized Crime Section / Human Trafficking Investigations

As a detective in the Organized Crime Section, my responsibilities included conducting Gambling, and Vice investigations as well as Murder for Hire.  During this period, I was the lead on several Gambling investigations.  I was also the lead on several Murder for Hires as well as Minor Sex Trafficking/Human Trafficking Investigations.  I was also deputized by the U.S. Marshalls Service to be a Task Force Officer on The FBI’s Minor Vice/Crimes against Children Task Force. I also served as a Task Force Officer for the South Florida Human Trafficking Task Force run out of Homeland Security Investigations.

From the March 2013 through March 2014, I was also detached to The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Human Trafficking Task Force. The Task Force was a multi-agency initiative established for the purpose of investigating Human Trafficking that was being committed throughout Miami-Dade County.  Based on Crime Stoppers tips and Department of Children and Families (DCF) intakes, the Task Force followed up on tips.  We also generated cases and made arrests of subjects that were involved in exploiting children and luring them into underage sex trafficking, as well as those who targeted adult victims by exploiting them and forcing them into the sex trade by force, fear, or coercion.  Another component of the full-time multi-agency task force was that they had several full-time victim advocates that offered services to the victims from the onset of the investigation.

Currently a Police Officer for the Village of Palmetto Bay, Miami, Florida

Uniform patrol responsibilities include the immediate response to dispatched calls for service, and the enforcement of all State of Florida criminal and traffic laws, as well as local ordinances.  When necessary, subjects are read Miranda Rights and taken into custody. Speed measurement certification enables me to enforce traffic laws with RADAR, and issue warnings and citations for traffic violations.  As a certified Bicycle Patrol officer, I actively participate in Community Policing strategies by routinely utilizing Bicycle Patrol throughout the Village, with a strong emphasis on detection and preventive initiatives.  As such, I have successfully become a familiar presence in the area and have established a positive relationship with members of the community.   In an effort to ensure the safety and security of our residents, I also immediately report deficient street lights, signs, and unsafe road surfaces.

In addition to routine and proactive uniform patrol functions, I also investigate reported crimes, accidents, and property damage reports.
